tomboy greens & girly blush tones

Paige Denim Edgemont Jeans (similar here, here, here and here);
Steve Madden NONSTP Open-Toe Mules (other colours, love these pink booties);

Happy Friday!  Last month or so, an email from Revolve popped up in my email box: '2 Colors Your Closet Wants' and they were 'tomboy greens & girly blush tones'.  A sucker for blush, I immediately clicked on the email and became a little obsessed with the colour combo.  Pairing pastel pinks and greens is nothing new, but pairing 'tomboy greens' and blush feels more modern.  I had blush jeans covered - these Paige Denim Edgemont Jeans I bought a few years ago that I've been reaching for a lot lately (last seen on the blog here paired with a red top for Valentine's Day).  (Although I am obsessing over these pink ZARA cropped trousers with frill and a few others I've tagged above.)  So I just needed something army green / khaki / olive, which was a colour missing from my closet.  I immediately went to ZARA because I had been eyeing this khaki jacket with frilled sleeves, but because it started warming up here in the South and I had already purchased a denim jacket, I decided to go with this khaki top, above, which also has frilled sleeves.  (I also ordered this khaki oversized tee.)

If you'd prefer to wear the colours in reverse, I'm loving these Siwy wide-leg pants, which would look great paired with this blush off-the-shoulder top, or these khaki ZARA high-waist jeggings paired with this amazing ZARA embroidered tulle top or this Free People top.

stripes & sunsets

Prada Sunglasses (also here)}

Today feels like Day 182 that my daughter and I have been sick, but it's the first day we're clear of fevers, etc. (so far anyway).  Just in time to enjoy the beautiful weather we started having (again).  We hit the beach on Sunday to get some fresh air (we re-shot the outfit yesterday at sunset because I was finally feeling like myself again).  I wore this Free People Full Moon Tee, which has cape-like qualities, slits on the sides and one slit at the back.  It's a score at under $60.  It's the perfect coverup for the beach.  I paired this striped tee with these amazing (dare I say, my new favourite) cutoffs.  They are SO comfy.  A striped tee + cutoffs is basically my spring/summer uniform.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

I miss my bed

Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here);

This sweatshirt says it all.  When we took these pictures last week, I was just starting to feel better after finding out I had an ear infection.  Then it got worse.  My daughter and I have been SO sick all week and my hubby was away on business so it's been roughhhh.  I'm pretty sure I have the flu and have had chills all week so sweatshirts have been my BFF.  This Wildfox sweatshirt is one of the most comfortable sweatshirts I own.  It's fleece and oh-so-cozy.  Perfect for when you have the flu.  I'm going back to bed.

Hope everyone is keeping healthy!

gemini kimono

Rebecca Minkoff Mini Suki Cross Body Bag (other colours, larger version here);
Free People Flared Jeans (old, love these and these);
Brixton Dalila Hat (in dark brown - this colour sold out - also in black here);

Happy Spring!  I was sick of course for the first (and now second) day of Spring, which I believe happened to me last year.  But the warm weather is back and I couldn't be more happier.  Today it will hit 80 degrees so I'll probably take my kids to the beach for some much-needed vitamin D.  On Saturday we took advantage of the weather and walked around Market Common and then headed to Gordon Biersch (as per usual) for dinner.  It was pretty windy so this kimono was flying everywhere so it was a bit difficult to take pictures of the entire outfit, but the rest of the outfit does not matter.  It's all about the kimono.  I mentioned before that I'm not a huge fan of jackets because I feel constricted with the sleeves so a kimono is my jam.  This Free People Gemini Drippy Kimono is super lightweight and SO beautiful.  Plus, I'm a Gemini, so I feel it was meant for me.

Hope everyone has a great first week of Spring!

cheap frills

{ZARA Frilled Sleeve Top (love this denim dress, this white blouse and I bought this olive top);
Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here);

Sigh.  This was last Thursday.  (After I finally, after two years, got my hair cut and coloured (!) so we quickly took pictures before the sun went down, but I felt naked without a hat ha.)  I was so excited to finally throw on shorts.  It was so beautiful out.  These AGOLDE high rise cutoff shorts are one of the items I purchased during the shopbop sale.  Before the sale I made a list of items missing from my closet and a pair of black high-waisted cutoffs (to wear with cropped tops) were on that list and these are exactly what I was looking for.  (I also ordered a pair of loose fit cutoff shorts, which are equally amazing.  I'm now a new fan of AGOLDE.)  I'm now on the hunt for a pair of blue high-waisted shorts (I'm eyeing these Madewell ones) and a pair of white high-waisted shorts (I'm eyeing these GRLFRND ones).  The main reason why I threw on these shorts was because I wanted to wear this cropped top from ZARA.  I love the frilled sleeves, as I'm a sucker for a fancy sleeve, and this top is under $30!  Speaking of frills, I almost bought a cute ZARA jacket with frilled sleeves, but I thought, nah it's going to get too hot soon.  Yesterday I had to wear a winter coat.  Ha.  Speaking of ZARA, their mid-season sale (up to 50% on selected items) started today!

denim & ruffles

Anthropologie Tee (similar here and tank version here);
Prada Sunglasses (also here)}

This time change is ruining my life.  And this weather is not making things better.  I mostly feel bad for the people who came here this week for March Break, probably booking their trip when they saw the temps were in the 70s/80s for the past few weeks.  Now it's barely reaching 60 degrees.  And it's been raining.  I'm bummed myself because I sorted through all of the spring/summer items I bought during the shopbop sale (some of the items I kept surprised me, I returned some items that I thought I would love, bummed some items did not work, in the end I blew my entire budget ha) and cannot wait to start wearing them!  (If you missed the sale, I think they have a similar sale coming up end of March.)

These pictures were taken a couple of weekends ago when we were coming back from a festival for the kiddies.  I bought this MSGM denim jacket back in January at Farfetch and finally pulled it out!  I'm not a huge jacket person because I always feel restricted with sleeves (weird, I know) so when I saw this jacket, I knew it was meant for me.  This is my first MSGM piece and I am now a huge fan!  When I find a designer piece I love and want to buy, I always check Farfetch first as you can usually get it a bit cheaper because they source many boutiques from around the world.  (You can check out more MSGM pieces here.  I love these ruffle trim shorts, these ruffle trimmed cropped jeans and this ruffled gingham check top.)  This is not an ad, ha.

I've been wanting to wear this MSGM denim jacket with a striped turtleneck and black jeans, but it was always a bit too warm for all of the layers, so I paired it with my favourite denim skirt for a denim on denim look, which I still love, and a white ruffle trimmed tee that I've been wearing a lot lately for layering.  I bought this Feel The Piece striped top during the shopbop sale and it would go perfectly with this jacket, but I actually think it might be too cold tomorrow.  I might actually get to wear that turtleneck after all.  Hopefully it won't be raining and we can shoot some pictures!

Hope everyone's keeping warm!

pink peplum

{Free People Wildcat Top;
Free People Flared Jeans (old);
Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here)}

Happy Friday!  Pink is a big trend for spring and, if you've been reading my blog for a while, you know pink is my favourite colour so I could not be more happy about it being a spring trend.  It means pink will be everywhere!  (I ordered this 'pop pink' Susana Monaco off-the-shoulder top last week and I am obsessed.)  This Free People Wildcat Top comes in 6 colours but, of course, I went with pink.  But I love it so much that I also ordered it in black (I wanted ivory as well but my size is sold out).  This peplum top is lightweight and perfect for the in-between weather before it gets hot, but it will also be great for the cool summer nights.  I paired this peplum top with my favourite Free People flared jeans.

 Hope everyone has a great weekend!

neutrals & floral booties

{I Love Mr Mittens The Bomber (sold out, similar here, love this, this and this cardigan);
Anthropologie Tee (love this one, similar here and tank version here);
J Brand High Rise Maria Skinny Jeans;
ASH Heidi Embroidered Booties;
Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here);

Happy Monday!  We were teased with 80-degree weather recently and I really thought summer was officially here.  But I don't mind the cool days because I get to wear this I Love Mr Mittens bomber cardigan I bought recently, which I thought might have been a silly purchase since I thought it would start getting hot here.  I'm really looking forward to seeing their cotton collection, which is apparently coming soon according to their Instagram account (you can enter your email here for updates).  Previously I paired this bomber cardigan with a black tee and regular blue jeans (and white sneakers), but this time I decided to go all white with a white tee and white jeans since I had summer on my mind.  I finished the outfit off with these ASH embroidered booties, which I bought in the winter, but they're perfect for spring.

#OOTD / shopbop sale

shopbop sale

Happy Friday!  Today's #OOTD is inspired by Shopbop's spring sale where you can save up to 25% (depending on how much you spend) on almost everything on their site.  The sale ends tomorrow!  I literally have been shopping online this entire week (mainly because they get new items every day!) making sure I order the things that are missing from my closet, or need updating, along with some trendy pieces for spring.  I'm still loving the off-the-shoulder trend (love the colour of this Free People tube top, above) and, as I mentioned earlier, the bigger trend this year - off-the-ONE-shoulder (I ordered this BB Dakota one-shoulder top - it's under $100!  I also love this striped Splendid one-shoulder top, also under $100).

One item on my list was a new pair of light-coloured jeans for spring.  I started shopping early Monday morning (email subscribers get to shop a day early) and was lucky enough to scoop up a pair of the Miranda + Mother The Super Stunner Ankle Jeans before they sold out (you can check out the collection here).  I'm so glad I did because they are AH-mazing!  I also ordered these Levi's Wedgie Straight Jeans, which are budget-friendlier and also amazing.  If those did not work out, I was going to try these CoH Liya High Rise Classic Fit Jeans, above, but I'm all set for jeans for spring.

I also have been wanting to buy a new pair of sunglasses since it's been a few years since I bought a new pair.  I've been eyeing these Sunday Somewhere Yetti Sunglasses, above, for a while now, but decided to go with a pair of Karen Walker Number One Sunglasses since I need prescription lenses.  I did order a similar pair to the ones above, at a much budget-friendlier price, and won't bother putting in prescription lenses and will just use them for the beach, but they're sold out.  You can check out the budget-friendly brand, Quay, here.  I've also been wanting a circle bag for a while and was excited to come across this BAGGU circle bag, above, which will go with everything.

Happy shopping!

the slip dress

 {Free People Kendall Trapeze Slip Dress (also here - save up to 25% with code GOBIG17!);
Free People Kimono (old, love these);
Schutz Gloria Tall Gladiator Sandals (similar here and here; shorter style here);
Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here - save up to 25% with code GOBIG17!);
Prada Sunglasses (also here - save up to 25% with code GOBIG17!)}

I've been looking for a slip dress for a while now since I sold my favourite one since I could no longer fit into it *insert crying emoji* and I finally found the perfect one in this Free People Kendall Trapeze Slip Dress.  It's airy so no worries of it ever being too tight ha.  I was mostly happy about the fact that it's not too long on me with me being so petite.  Slip dresses are perfect for layering all year long - over a t-shirt for a casual look, over a button-down for a more dressed-up look, layered under a cardigan and paired with boot(ie)s for cooler weather, or even worn on its own when it's hot out.  I was going to style this slip dress with this bomber cardigan I bought recently but it's been really warm lately so I styled it with a Free People kimono I bought a couple (few?) years ago.

Shopbop's big spring sale (save up to 25% off) started the other day and ends Saturday.  My package arrives tomorrow and it feels like Christmas ha!  I just noticed a pair of jeans I purchased are already sold out so things are going quick!  Now is the perfect time to get those key spring pieces that are missing or need updating in your closet - a denim jacket (I own this MSGM one and am obsessed), a pair of light-coloured jeans, a pair of white jeans, a pair of mules, a pair of sandals, a pair of sunglasses, a bag in a pretty hue...
