perfect pastel pullover

{Free People Allure Pullover (also here in other colours);
Gorjana Necklace (this one is sold out, but I love their jewellery);
Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here)}

I am obsessed with this Free People Allure Pullover.  It's the perfect sweater for spring because it's not too heavy (it's cotton), but not too light either (the slight oversized fit also makes it easy to layer with for added warmth).  I love pastels so I went with the lavender one, but this pullover comes in many colours and I want all of them - black, ivory, taupe, a jewel tone - so I would have all of my bases covered.  This pullover is perfectly slouchy and you can wear it off one shoulder.  Off-the-shoulder is still a big trend, but off-the-ONE-shoulder is even bigger this year.  What's even better about this pullover?  You can wear it backwards!

sweater & sandals

{For Love & Lemons x KNITZ Clemence Sweater (also here);
One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt (sold out colour);
Schutz Gloria Tall Gladiator Sandals (similar here and here, love these shorter ones and have them in two colours);
Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here);
Prada Sunglasses}

I never quite understood wearing a sweater with a skirt (or shorts) and sandals...until I moved to Myrtle Beach.  The weather has been gorgeous lately and we headed to the beach this past weekend.  Rather than jump into wearing an off-the-shoulder top, which I'm SO happy is still a trend, I'm easing my way into Spring and decided to start with a pair of tall gladiator sandals.  I paired them with my favourite One Teaspoon denim skirt and this For Love & Lemons sweater, which was perfect for when there was a breeze.  (Tip: if it's not quite sandal weather yet where you live, just add a pair of over-the-knee boots or booties!)

animal print

{Free People Skirt (love this one by Mango - save 20% today! - and this Joie silk skirt is 55% off);
Madewell Tee;
525 America Cardigan (love this one);
Stuart Weitzman The Lowland Boot (budget-friendly OTK boots here);

Another one of the 'challenges' from Who What Wear's 30-Day Winter Wardrobe Challenge was to wear your favourite leopard-print piece.  I wanted to pull out this leopard-print faux fur jacket I bought last year since I have yet to wear it this winter, but it's been too warm.  Then I remembered about this Free People leopard-print skirt (which is one skirt I will probably hold on to for life, even though I've been selling practically everything from my closet over the past several months).  But then today I remembered it was cheetah print.  Po-tay-toe/po-tah-toe.  I paired the leopard, er, cheetah-print skirt with a simple black tee, boyfriend cardigan and over-the-knee boots.

A leopard, or cheetah, print is classic and never a bad investment.  Free People always has great animal-print pieces.  I love this leopard-print buttondown blouse (under $100!) and this leopard-print pullover.  I love this Urban Outfitters leopard-print sweater tee (tip: layer over a white buttondown to make it work appropriate).  Love this Maje leopard-print jacket and this Equipment silk bomber jacket for Spring.  This Equipment leopard-print dress is beautiful.  Animal print and sequins?  Yes, please!  Love these Marc Jacobs Lisa Mary Jane Ballerina Flats.  Leopard print and crystal-studded floral appliqués?  Yes and yes!  These Steve Madden Inca Sandals are gorgeous and perfect to transition into spring with a pair of jeans.  I've been looking for a pair of mules and I'm loving these Pour La Victoire Leopard Febe Slides.  A touch of animal-print goes a long way on these Dolce Vita Pedra Sandals.

i love mr mittens

Madewell Tee;
Levi's 501 Raw Hem Jeans;
Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here)}

TGIF!  I've been online shopping for spring clothes lately, filling up shopping carts on my favourite sites, but could not decide on anything so I ended up splurging on this I Love Mr Mittens bomber cardigan, even though it's 100% wool and I live in the South.  Maybe not the smartest investment and I thought I would probably end up returning it.  I've been violently ill this past week, along with my daughter.  My son had the bug last weekend and it hit us Valentine's Day evening.  Last night we needed to leave our house for a showing since we're selling our house.  We headed out to dinner since I was hoping it would motivate my daughter (and myself) to eat something other than toast.  It was cool out and I wanted nothing more than to be wrapped up in a blanket.  Clearly meant to be, this bomber cardigan showed up just before we left the house.  It was nice to get some fresh air and I definitely was kept cozy and warm.  I paired the bomber with a simple Madewell tee and these Levi's 501s, which have become my new favourite pair of jeans.  They're equally as cozy.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

floral tunic & OTK boots

{Free People Swing Tunic (similar here, love this cold shoulder tunic and this sleeveless tunic
- just add a cardigan!);
Stuart Weitzman The Lowland Boot (budget-friendly ones here);
Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here);

If you get into a wardrobe funk like I do in January/February, Who What Wear's 30-Day Winter Wardrobe Challenge is here to help.  Some 'challenges' (i.e., tucking in your sweater) are so simple but make a big difference.  One of the challenges was to pair a feminine dress with over-the-knee boots.  I've worn this Free People tunic (which on me is a dress) on the blog here (paired with black booties and a boyfriend cardigan), here (paired with gladiator sandals), here (paired with chunky socks, wedge boots and a chunky cardigan) and here (paired with black booties and a purple fedora).  Four different ways of wearing one piece.  Now five.  I was surprised I had yet to wear this Free People tunic with over-the-knee boots and, although this tunic is one of my favourites, this 'challenge' made me excited to pull it back out again.  It's all about making those small changes and you can make an old favourite feel new again.

red & pink

{Style Mafia Aris Top (also here and here, similar peach one here);
Jeffrey Campbell Vionnet Flats (they also come in grey here and other colours/leather here);
Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here);
Prada Sunglasses}

Red and pink are not only my two favourite colours separately, but I love pairing them together (as seen on the blog for Valentine's Day before here).  I was not specifically shopping for Valentine's Day when I came across this Style Mafia Aris Top on Shopbop, but immediately fell in love with the ruffles, cutout shoulders and, of course, colour.  But since Valentine's Day is just around the corner, rather than styling this pretty red top with any pair of jeans, I styled it with these pink Paige jeans I bought a few years ago and pink flats.  I felt like a walking Valentine ha.  The great thing about this top is that you can dress it up (it would also look great with a pair of black jeans), or dress it down because it is a sweatshirt.  Yes, a sweatshirt.  A red, ruffled, cold shoulder sweatshirt.

Happy Valentine's Day!

yellow sweatshirt

{ZARA Knit Sweatshirt (sold out online, similar here);
GAP Jeans (similar here and here, high rise style here);
Brixton Alex Hat; Prada Sunglasses}

I love a bright sweater, especially in the winter, and yellow has been growing on me for the past couple of years.  Any pair of jeans would work, but I chose to tone down this bright yellow sweatshirt with greys.

#OOTD / sale sale sale

sale sale sale

Happy Friday!  So, apparently winter is sticking around a bit longer.  I can't complain since it was too hot to shoot any outfits yesterday #thestruggleisreal.  The (probably one?) good thing about a longer winter is that you can buy the pair of boots/coat/sweater you've been eyeing on sale and still get a lot of use out of it.  J.Crew is having a great sale right now.  Because it's colder today, I was thisclose to ordering this Petite Majesty Peacoat (in Marigold because only a bright coat can put a smile on my face when it's cold out), but I've learned now living in the South that once the coat arrives it will most likely be too warm to wear it (I've already been tricked once this year).  It's a steal though under $75 right now (orig. $298)!  It comes in 4 colours and any of them would look great with this #OOTD.  This Sailor Stripe Funnelneck T-Shirt (above) is under $30.  If you're looking for something warmer, this Ribbed Relaxed Wool Turtleneck Sweater in Stripe looks SO cozy and is only $41.99.

I've been looking for a darker pair of flared jeans and am eyeing these J Brand The Doll High Waist Bell Bottom Jeans (above), which are 20% off.  Michael Kors is having a great sale on shoes.  These MICHAEL Michael Kors Claire Embossed-Leather Ankle Boots (above) are SO pretty and currently 50% off!  These Pierce Lace-Up Suede Wedges are under $60(!) and can easily transition into spring with a floral dress and denim jacket.  This Rebecca Minkoff Mini Feed Bag (above) is 40% off and perfect for Valentine's Day and also for spring.

cuddly AF

cuddly AF

Happy first day of February!  Spring is just around the corner, but I find February to be the coldest month so February to me is all about comfort.  Yes, even on that holiday that people either love or hate: Valentine's Day.  If your jam is to dress up and go out, there's nothing wrong with that.  I personally loved celebrating Valentine's Day with my hubby the first year we were together and then I could not care less about celebrating it again ha.  It really is just another day and there's too much pressure for the day so try to just enjoy it!  If you're like me and prefer to just 'Netflix and Chill', Wildfox has the best sweaters for the occasion - for those who either love or hate the holiday (check out their collection here).  My favourites from the collection are this Cuddly AF Sommers Sweater and this Girlfriend Material Sommers Sweater.  And this Ugh, Couples Skater V Tee is funny AF.
