blue velvet crush

Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here);

'I would drape myself in velvet if it were socially acceptable.'  -George Costanza

Sorry, that quote is so good I had to use it twice on my blog ha.  I hope everyone had a great Christmas!  My last (late, sorry) post of 2016 and it's fitting that it ends with velvet.  Not only is this ZARA Velvet Cut-Out Shoulder Sweater perfect for New Year's Eve, it is SO soft and luscious you will want to wear it every day.  It honestly feels like you're wearing a t-shirt (well, almost).  I originally wanted this sweater in green, but they didn't have my size at the time, but I'm happy I ended up going with the navy since navy does look great on brunettes and I feel you can get away with wearing navy more in the daytime.  Either way, just pair it with Levi's and white sneakers and anything is pretty much acceptable for daytime.

You can shop other velvet pieces here and here.

Happy shopping but, most importantly, I hope all of you have a happy new year!

embroidered jacket & denim skirt

{Free People Embroidered Swingy Jacket (comes in 5 colours, also love this maxi and this cardi);
Madewell Whisper Cotton Crewneck Tee;
Isabel Marant Etoile Booties (similar here);
Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here);

What a gorgeous weekend we had in Myrtle Beach this past weekend.  80 degrees!  I had just put this One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt away (last seen here) since the temps dropped drastically and I was happy I was able to start wearing jeans (although I did just buy this ZARA Tulle Denim Skirt).  We headed to the beach a little later and it was a bit breezy so this jacket was perfect.  If you're going away for the holidays, I highly recommend it.  We're heading to Disney tomorrow so I will definitely be packing this jacket.  The embroidery is SO beautiful and I love me a balloon sleeve.

If you're looking for something cozy warm for the holidays, check out my post here!  Coziest. Sweater. Ever.  If you're looking for that ugly-but-not-really-ugly Christmas sweater, this MINKPINK Gifted Intazia Sweater is adorable!  And if you're looking for something velvet for that holiday party, I just ordered this ZARA Velvet Cut-Out Shoulder Sweater (also in green).

Happy shopping and happy holidays!

#OOTD / stripes, florals, studs

#OOTD / stripes, florals, studs

Happy Friday!  I've been running around, I'm sure like everyone else, getting ready for Christmas.  We surprised my hubby the other day for his birthday by telling him we're heading to Disney next week!  It's great that we live so close and can just jump in the car and go.  This morning I finally got a chance to sit down and I was looking for some 'resort wear' but nothing caught my eye.  So instead I ordered this striped For Love & Lemons x KNITZ Clemence Sweater (also here, which is where I first laid my eyes on it).  I love the bell sleeves and I'm a sucker for a striped sweater.  I'm currently obsessing over embroidered denim and these One Teaspoon Birds of Paradise Scallywags Jeans might be the ones I'm pulling the trigger on (similar, budget-friendlier ones at ZARA here).  I've been coveting a pair of white boots lately and these Chloe Susanna Studded Leather Ankle Boots are gorgeous (budget-friendlier pair of white boots at ZARA here).

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

cozy sweater, skinny jeans & OTK boots

{Free People All Mine Sweater (comes in 5 colours);

This Free People All Mine Sweater is the coziest sweater ever, as mentioned in this post.  I've been living in this sweater since it's cooled down quite a bit here in Myrtle Beach.  Last week I paired this sweater with skinny jeans & floral booties (see here).  Yesterday was a bit cooler so I paired this sweater with skinny jeans and over-the-knee boots, which is basically my winter uniform.  Over-the-knee boots just add an extra layer of warmth when you need it.  For extra coziness when it gets even chillier, I'll be layering this sweater over a thermal (tip: scrunch up the sleeves of the sweater to show off the beautiful cuffs!).

Hope everyone stays warm & cozy this week!

#OOTD / cozy cashmere

#OOTD / cozy cashmere

Happy Friday!  Today has been the coldest day we've had this fall so all I can think about is cozying up on the couch by the fireplace in this Keepsake Rendezvous Sweater and these Free People It's a Fine Night Cashmere Leggings.  These Givenchy Shark Lock Wedge Boots (also here in a pale pink suede) and Chloe Nano Drew Shoulder Bag (this tulip red is gorgeous!) would, however, make it less painful to leave the house.

Happy shopping!

holiday gift guide

holiday gift guide

I can't believe it's almost a week into December!  I just bought my first present (online) yesterday.  I can never get into it before we put our tree up the first weekend of December.  I also overspend if I start too early so I've learned my lesson.  If you're like me and just starting (or finishing) your shopping and maybe need some help, hopefully this guide will help you.

Anthropologie Leather Monogram Pouch, $38.  This pouch is something everyone could use, but has a personal touch to make the gift feel special.

Topshop Blouson Sleeve Sweater $65.  Who doesn't love a cozy sweater?  If you're not quite sure of the person's size, or if returning/exchanging the present might be an issue, a one-size-fits-all poncho/kimono is a great option.  I love the fringe on this Jen's Pirate Booty Shawl Poncho, $202 (far left).  The faux fur collar is removable on this Free People Hot Toddy Cable Knit Kimono, $98 (top right).

Deborah Lippmann Very Berry Nail Polish Set, $36.  A great mix of colours.

Anthropologie Midtown Beanie.  I love the bright colours!  Pink and orange is probably my favourite colour combo.  It comes in other (not-so-bright) colours.

Rebecca Minkoff Velvet Love Cross Body Bag, $275.  On trend, but the shape is classic.  It also comes in burgundy.

Free People Cloud Nine Velvet Blanket, $148.  You can literally drape yourself in velvet.  I might have to gift this to myself for Christmas.

Free People Riri Mega Ring Set, $38.  14 mix-and-match rings!

Free People Bundle Baby Chunky Cowl, $58.  You can never have too many scarves.  Or slippers.

Anthropologie Cabled Slipper Booties, $20.  I wish I had these on this very moment.

J.Crew Corgi Colorblock Cashmere Socks, $98.  OMG cashmere.  Again, in my favourite colour combo + red (another favourite).  I think Santa is going to put these in my stocking.

Happy shopping!

perfect plaid & Levi's

MICHAEL Michael Kors Bootie (old, similar here and love these and these);
Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here);

This Free People plaid shirt is perfection.  As soon as I saw it online, I knew I would love it.  It's airy and light, perfect for layering when it gets cooler.  I love the loose sleeves and especially the ruffle hem (I'm a sucker for ruffles!).  I normally would grab a pair of skinny jeans because of the volume of the shirt, but instead I paired them with these Levi's jeans for a more comfy vibe.  I can't remember the last time I bought a pair of Levi's (besides my cutoffs)!  Now that I started buying them again, I won't stop.  I love the hem on these jeans also, but unfortunately I have to cuff them because I'm so petite.  Fortunately, I love the way these Levi's jeans look cuffed.  I paired them with my go-to black booties because it was a bit cool out, but I will definitely be wearing this outfit on repeat with a pair of white sneakers.

#OOTD / sequin dress

sequins

Happy Friday!  Now that it's December and it's cooled down quite a bit today, I am in full-on Christmas mode.  We're heading to Broadway at the Beach this weekend for the Christmas Parade and then the tree lighting/fireworks in the evening.  I'm going to wear a sequin top that I've had for many, many years that I occasionally pull out.  I'll be pairing it with jeans since we'll be walking around all day/sitting.  No fancy parties for me this year.  But I am obsessing over this Free People Bali Surry Sequin Dress (now 50% off!).  It comes in 4 colours and has pockets!  I'd pair this dress with either over-the-knee boots (love these Dolce Vita Neely Over the Knee Boots, above, since I usually prefer flats) or black booties (these Thelma Suede Ankle Boots have block heels, which are a must for a long night).  A simple black clutch/bag will do, but it's the holidays so why not go rose gold on rose gold with this Rebecca Minkoff Metallic Leo Clutch?

Happy shopping!

drippy pullover in December

Hello, December!  We have been super spoiled with the weather lately.  I've been living in this Free People Drippy Extreme Pullover.  It is SO cozy and perfect for this weather.  After cleaning out my closet, I realized I own a ridiculous amount of sweaters from living in Canada, but not many tops like this one.  I will definitely be buying this pullover in another colour.  (I also bought this thermal.)  I LIVE for pjs.  Like, I can't be in my house with regular clothes on.  It feels unnatural to me to wear jeans in my house.  This top feels like you're wearing your pjs.  At least now I don't have to be embarrassed getting the mail.  I'm still working on the whole pants thing.  (I'm eyeing these joggers.)
