fall fashion edit

fall fashion edit

Fall fashion.  Sigh.  My favourite time of the year, but yet it doesn't cool down in the South until late in the year (maybe get lucky with some cool days in October).  I definitely don't miss snow, not even a little bit, but I did wish it cooled down here a bit sooner.  (I am planning on heading to NYC in October so I'll be super excited to shop for that!)  My hubby has been in Chicago this week and I've been getting my son ready for Grade 2 since they start early here (next week!), which is why there have been little outfit posts lately.  Plus, I'm in limbo between shopping for summer clothes, most of which are on sale so it's super tempting, or waiting to shop for fall clothes because it's my favourite season and I'm like a kid in a candy store when it comes to fall shopping.  So I thought I'd share the pieces I've been eyeing for fall, for those lucky enough to start shopping now!

Fall Shoes
When it comes to fall shopping, I always start by updating my shoe/boot collection.  These ZARA Leather Slides with Bow are the perfect transition shoe and SO cute!  Since I can get away with sandals for a while I'm leaning toward these Derek Lam 10 Crosby Ann Slides, but they feel fall-ish because they're suede.  They'd go great with anything from cutoffs to maxi dresses.  I've always wanted a pair of Rag & Bone 'Harrow' Booties and I love the fringe detail on these.  I always update my sneakers because I live in them in the fall.  I love the colour of these Superga Suede Sneakers, but I'm obsessing over these KENZO Leather Platform Sneakers!  They're at the top of my list since I can actually start wearing them now.  I love the black and white contrast...

Fall (Off-the-Shoulder) Tops
...which leads me to this striped tee, which I think is a must-have for fall.  I also think a plaid or check piece is a must-have for fall.  I'm still loving anything off-the-shoulder and because these tops have long-sleeves, they can be worn now on those cooler evenings and later.

Fall Jackets
I usually add a fall jacket to my collection.  I recommend that if you already own a black jacket for fall, buy one in another colour.  It's taken me years, but I pretty much have the basic jackets covered: bomber, plaid, denim, military... So when I look for a jacket, I look for something unique.  I'm obsessing over this pink ZARA Faux Leather Jacket!  Since I already have a black bomber jacket, I'm eyeing this Siwy Turner Bomber Jacket, which would look great with these Free People Abbey Road Sunglasses (in olive).

Leopard
I love leopard print anything for fall.  It's a classic and really goes with anything.  I love this Free People Mini Dress, but a touch also goes a long way with leopard.  This ASOS Oversized Lightweight Scarf in Leopard Print would be the perfect touch to any fall outfit.

Denim
Last but certainly not least: denim.  I usually live in the same 2-3 pairs of jeans all fall/winter so usually one of those pairs need updating.  I already have light grey jeans so I'm eyeing these darker grey FRAME Le High Skinny Jeans.  (If you're looking for black skinny jeans, I lived in these FRAME ones last fall and I promise you they're SO comfortable.  Tip: I sized down one size.)  I'm also loving the colour of these M.i.h. Jeans Lou Cropped Flare Jeans.  (The summer ones are currently 30% off here!)  Since I'm petite, they'll most likely be regular flare jeans on me, which isn't necessarily a bad thing because then I won't need to buy regular ones and hem them.

Happy shopping!

retro love suede

Theory Leenda B Sweater (budget-friendlier one here)}

{Jeffrey Campbell Cors Suede Peep Toe Bootie (comes in 7 colours!)}

Happy Friday!  I just came on the blog and saw my Instagram previews are not showing and it says 'Internal Server Error' instead.  Ha.  Immediately thought of Mr. Robot.  That show is SO good, I'm obsessed.  I'm also obsessing over today's #OOTD, especially this Free People suede dress.  I know, another Free People item, but I swear I did not know it was a Free People dress when I first came across it.  It was love at first sight.  I just love the colour.  And I love how Shopbop styled it with a sweater underneath.  I get inspiration for outfits from a lot of places, but when I don't know quite how to style a particular item, or I want to style it in different ways, I just Google the item and it usually comes up in different places (i.e., this dress is being sold at Free People, Shopbop and Revolve) and each site styles it in their own way.  Free People is the best site for outfit inspo.  I love their lookbooks, but I especially love their FP Me section where you can see the item styled by regular people, not just the top 1% of the top 1% (bloggers).  (Sorry, Mr. Robot is taking over my life.)  Until it cools down here I would wear this dress on its own with my favourite Jeffrey Campbell suede booties.  I would go with either the taupe, shown above, or black.  I have the pink ones, but they would be too matchy-matchy.  Over-the-knee boots would look great in the fall.  Add a cardigan and voila.  How would you style this dress?

Happy shopping!

free people edit

free people edit

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  Last week was my sister's last week in Myrtle Beach, which is why I never got around to doing my #OOTD post on Friday.  To make up for it, I decided to do a Free People edit of the clothes I've been coveting for this month/September.

Ok, I know I said this dress was too long on me and I sold mine on Poshmark, but it now comes in red (among other colours) and is SO gorgeous!  It's going to be hard to resist.

I'm not big on jewellery, but I've been wearing a lot of chokers and bolo necklaces.

I prefer a flared leg but I usually have to get them hemmed, which is a bit of a pain, so I buy a lot of skinny jeans because I can fold them up.  My favourite look for fall is easily skinny jeans tucked into over-the-knee boots (love these and these).  I'm eyeing these Levi's skinny jeans because of the high waist.  Plus, they're under $100.

A bodysuit is a must-have.  Ideally one in white and/or black.  But I do really love this green one.  Off-the-shoulder or tee style.  There's no bunching to worry about when tucked into skirts or jeans, and they're great for layering under a cardigan or slip dress.  Again, no bunching to worry about.

I think everyone should have a military jacket in their closet.  I love pairing them with something more feminine.  Other must-have jackets for fall: a denim jacket, a moto jacket, and a (faux) leather jacket

Another must-have IMO: a maxi dress.  This one comes in white or black.  I'm also obsessing over this one.

I'm looking for the perfect slip dress to replace my Aritzia slip dress (which I'm selling on Poshmark!).  I love a slip dress paired with a cardigan (as seen on my blog here and here), but I want to have the option of wearing a tee underneath and unfortunately my dress is too tight (on me) to do so.  This Free People slip looks perfect for that, but my size is out of stock (boo).  I love the lace details and it looks SO comfy.

Moonlight Garden Pants
 As soon as I saw these pants, I fell in love.  I love the colour, floral print and style.  Living in the South, they're the perfect type of pant - lightweight and flowy.

Striped Modern Muse Blouse
 Oversized and effortless?  Sold.

As much as I'm obsessing over the new colours of the Perfectly Victorian Mini, I'm leaning toward this tunic.  A tunic works best on me because it's the perfect length to wear as a dress.  Plus, this tunic can be worn so many different ways: as is, tucked into boyfriend jeans, worn over skinny jeans, or paired with a flowy blouse underneath.  For $88, it's a steal.  It also comes in three colours.
