the perfect summer jean & a striped tee

Wilfred Tee (old, love this one and LOVE this ruffled one);
Vans Sneakers;
Coach Bracelet (old);

This outfit is my idea of the perfect S/S outfit: a great summer jean, striped tee and white sneakers.  I bought these jeans back in March and I've been meaning to post these photos.  These are basically a 'mom jean' with a super high waist.  They are SO comfortable.  I love the high waist because you can wear them with a crop top and not show too much skin.  I chose to go with one of my favourite striped tees from Artizia for a classic spring look.  Don't you wish you could go back in time and buy more of the one piece you wear over and over again so you'll have it forever?  I'm pretty sure I've had this tee close to forever, but you never know when you might spill red wine on it (good-bye favourite Free People peplum tee).

#OOTD / orange crush

#OOTD / orange crush

Happy Friday!  Today's #OOTD is inspired by the amazing sales going on.  I'm trying to stick to my rule of only buying things that I have been coveting before they went on sale.  Neiman Marcus, however, is having a killer sale on shoes and I want just about every pair.  So I'm trying to avoid looking at the sales altogether.  This, to me, is the perfect spring outfit.  (The jeans and sandals are on sale!)  I love the clean look of it with this white Rebecca Taylor off the shoulder top (this one is not on sale but this similar one is) and these white Stuart Weitzman wedge sandals.  I especially love a clean outfit like this because you can switch it up each time you wear it by adding any pop of colour with a bag.  I'm obsessed with this orange Chloe bag.  But it's not on sale.  Thankfully.

Happy (sale) shopping!

blush sun dress

Twirling because how can you not?  Also, I love this walk to the beach.  Just getting a glimpse of that ocean, you immediately become calm.

Lush Top via Mendocino (old);
Free People Choker (sold out);
Prada Sunglasses}

I became obsessed with this dress as soon as I saw it on Class Is Internal on Instagram.  The details and colour sold me.  I saw the line was launching in May so I patiently waited.  I ended up going on the site a half an hour before I received the email that the line had launched so I was able to score this dress in my size (it was meant to be!).  I knew it would sell out quickly (there are a couple of sizes left!).  It's very sheer so I wore one of my favourite, very old, tops that I use over sheer slip dresses, etc. (also here).  It was partly cloudy but became super hot when the sun came out so I wore the dress without the top for a little while (#freethenipple!).  I love the different ways you can wear this dress.  I wore it loose, but you can also tighten it around the waist for more definition, or add your own belt.  I'm on the hunt for the perfect bra to wear under it, but until then I'll wear it as a skirt.  Throwing a cardigan on would work but it was way too warm.  This dress will be on repeat when we start swimming at the beach because then I'll be wearing a bikini underneath.

cream & white

Isabel Marant Etoile Suede Ankle Boots (sold out at FWRD, avail in black);

It's been gloomy the past several days and breezy yesterday morning so I put on jeans and booties while I still can (sure enough not too long after the sun came out and I was roasting).  I'm sure you can tell I'm a little obsessed with anything off-the-shoulder.  I couldn't resist this top.  It's so pretty.  I love the crochet details.  It's super lightweight and perfect for spring and summer.  I will warn you, it's quite sheer.  I paired it with white jeans since I love a monochrome look.  Black can be quite harsh so I chose to go with brown accessories, especially because I'm obsessed with this bolo necklace.  I love that you can style it in different ways.  Last time on the blog (see post here) I wrapped the necklace once around my neck and tied it into a bow.  This time I wrapped it three times and then just tied it into a knot.  This necklace makes any outfit that much more interesting, but especially looks great with anything off-the-shoulder.  Done and done.

the flat lay

{For Love & Lemons Isabella Top (also here, dress version here);
Tularosa Skirt (sold out, similar here and here);

 {Free People Off the Shoulder Top (sold out, similar here and here);
Levi's Shorts (bought at Aritzia last year, similar here);

I love creating #flatlay photos on Instagram.  They're an easy way to show your #OOTD when you don't have someone to take your picture or the weather is not cooperating.  The key is taking them in natural daylight.  Here are a few of my recent favourites.  (As you can probably tell, I love a good lace-up sandal!)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

#OOTD / crochet & denim

#OOTD / crochet & denim

Happy Friday!  Well, it's been gloomy here for the past few days so I'm not really that happy, although it is a nice break from the heat.  Today's #OOTD is a cheery one, though.  I am obsessing over this Alice + Olivia crochet top.  It's so colourful!  I paired it with a high-waisted denim skirt from Aritzia, which I'm purchasing the moment I finish this post because I'll be living in crop tops all summer so I need to stock up on high-waisted pieces to go along with them.  I'm also obsessing over these Vanessa Mooney bolo necklaces (seen on my blog here).  I love that you can tie them in different ways (post coming soon on another way to wear it).

Happy shopping!

pink suede booties

{Jeffrey Campbell Cors Suede Peep Toe Bootie (other colours, also here and light pink here);
Urban Outfitters Romper (old, similar here and here);
Urban Outfitters Hat (old);

On Wednesdays we wear pink, right?  Or every day in my case, especially now that I have these booties.  Pink is my favourite colour so of course when I came across these online at Nordstrom a couple of weeks ago, I fell in loooove.  I'm pretty sure I even gasped as soon as I opened the box.  They're a bit on the purple-ish side (I wish they had my size in the light pink) but the colour is gorgeous and the lace up detail is killer.  They're super comfortable and the heel is the perfect height for someone who is no longer a fan of heels.  I might even grab them in a neutral colour.  I wore them out to dinner and paired them with one of my favourite rompers I bought at Urban Outfitters a couple of years ago because they bring out the beautiful flowers in the romper.  I already can't wait to wear these booties again.  They'll look great with anything from jeans to an LWD.  I'm already picturing them paired with this skort I posted the other day and with this Spell dress I scored before my size sold out, which is the one I was obsessing about here.

Don't forget to check out my #OOTD on Friday!

minty fresh floral two piece

3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Mini Satchel (colour sold out, love these for spring, LOVE this mint one);

I came across this set (pieces sold separately) while I was doing my usual Friday #OOTD post (see here) and purchased it before I had even finalized my blog post.  I fell in love with the colour, print, details.  (I also knew it would go perfectly with my new bag.)  I almost purchased the top alone, but the set is so pretty I had to buy both pieces.  The pieces are so individually unique that I can't wait to mix and match them with other pieces in my closet.  But I wore it as a set for Mother's Day.  (It was in the 90s so we had to re-shoot this outfit a few days later.)  We went for crepes and then to the beach.  It was a great day, but HOT.  But this set was perfect for both brunch and hanging out on the beach.  (You will see that it is supposed to be a crop top, but I have been eating a little too much ice cream lately since it's been so hot so I wore the shorts a little bit higher to create a romper-like vibe.  I do love a romper.  Win-win situation if you ask me.)

#OOTD / powder blue

#OOTD / powder blue

Happy Friday!  Today's #OOTD is inspired by something I read in a magazine about blue getting the most likes on Instagram.  I definitely could see that.  Ok, I might not wear everything here together, but I do love a monochrome look so it's possible.  How ethereal does this look?  This See by Chloe top is a little more than I would spend on a top, but it's so gorgeous and flowy and everything I look for in a top for spring/summer.

You can shop these pieces below!
