#OOTD

#OOTD

Happy Friday!  I'm still sick, but feeling much better today.  I joined Polyvore this year and have been having a lot of fun with it.  I've been posting collages which I will continue to do every once in a while, but I thought from now on, every Friday, I'll create an outfit of items I'm currently coveting and/or an outfit I would love to be wearing.  This is a pretty versatile outfit, mixing classic pieces with some trendy pieces.  I love a good hat as I'm sure you can tell by my blog and Rag & Bone has great ones.  They also have amazing boots - their 'Harrow Booties' being my favourite.  Aritzia has the best sweaters and this one looks super cozy and something I would live in.  Flared jeans have always been a favourite of mine and you can never go wrong with a simple white tee.  Two accessories I've been eyeing are this amazing Chloé bag and these sunglasses.  I love a Free People necklace and this one adds that extra touch to a simple outfit like this one.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy these #OOTD posts and you can shop the pieces below!

(Note: Polyvore occasionally shows items are out of stock which is not always the case, so I've changed some links to go to directly to the item.  I would do this for all of them, but what's great about Polyvore is that it will show you similar pieces that range in prices.)

Happy shopping!

patched

hat: Brixton; sneakers: Vans; sunglasses: Prada}

Just a quick post today.  I've been sick the past few days, but yesterday's weather made me feel a lot better.  There was no coat necessary and that's the weather I most prefer (other than beach weather).  Went for a nice long walk with my daughter who also has been sick.  Free People is great at making you feel cozy.  These jeans are super comfortable (and on sale!)

Hope everyone has a great day!

r e d

love

Well, that time of year that 50% (or more, ha) people seem to dislike is coming up: Valentine's Day!  I get it, I've never been that into it, but I've also never been opposed to it.  Nothing wrong with taking a day to celebrate your love (although after my hubby bought me flowers in college and told me how much he paid after I asked him because I was curious, I begged him to never do it again!), as long as you don't put too much pressure on your significant other.  And if you're not dating anyone, it's OK!  I don't believe I even celebrated with anyone in high school.  I'd chill at home with some cheesy romantic movie (Pretty Woman is at the top of my list).  Maybe it's because of Julia Roberts in that iconic scene with that iconic laugh that I love red so much.

I recently watched this movie with my (much younger) sister who had never seen it.  I remembered how romantic the movie was but I forgot how great the fashion was!

Or you could do some online shopping.  No one said you can't buy yourself a present!  I love red no matter what time of year.  I think red is such a happy colour.  You can use it to add a pop of colour to your outfit with either a bag (see here), or a pair of shoes (see here).  You can have it be the focus of your outfit (see here).  Or if you want to go bold, you can pair it with pink (see here).  Happy shopping!

faux & flared

jeans: Free People (sold out, love these cropped ones, these, these and these);
top: ZARA; boots: MARC by Marc Jacobs (old);
hat: Brixtonsunglasses: Prada}

It's officially coat weather in the South, cold for more than a couple of days in a row.  I've been hibernating for the most part this week ha.  I don't mind though, having hot weather up until Christmas (with some odd cold days), it's a nice break.  Plus, I get to wrap myself up in this cozy coat when I do go out.  I went with a grey top again because 1) InStyle told me to (see here) and 2) this ZARA top is just as cozy as the coat.  Separately, I love how this grey top goes with my favourite flared jeans so I paired it all together for a '70s look, one of my favourites.  Hope everyone's keeping warm!

slouchy & soft

jeans: 7 For All Mankind (also here);
hat: Brixton; sunglasses: Prada}

Perfect weekend (or stay-at-home mom's every day of the week) sweater, slouchy and soft.  It even has a wrinkled look after you wash it.  Ok, maybe you're supposed to iron it but I like the lived-in look of it with the wrinkles.  Because it's the kind of sweater you live in.  The same goes for these boots.  The best investment I ever made.  They're not boots that you pay a fortune for and hardly ever wear them because you're waiting for a special occasion.  They're everyday boots that make the day feel like a special occasion.

boyfriend cardigans & flowy dresses

Free People Swing Tunic (other colours, similar here);
hat: Brixtonsunglasses: Prada}

One thing that's been missing from my closet is a grey cardigan, so when I spotted this 'boyfriend' one on sale I had to scoop it up.  The patches on the elbows makes it unique.  My InStyle's 'Color Crash Course: Clover' post (see here) was a popular one - GAP even asked to post one of the pictures on their site! - so I'll be sure to do more of those in the future.  Since then I haven't wanted to pair green or grey with anything else.  Yesterday was a gorgeous day so I used the opportunity to pair the cardigan with my fav Free People tunic.  Today the temp dropped drastically so I had to pull out my green coat and you'll never guess what I paired it with?  Grey!  Ha.  I switched it up this time though and threw some blue jeans in there.  Post to come!

pink & palm tree shadows

{sweater: GAP (bought at outlet, similar here and here);
Lovers + Friends x REVOLVE Merci Coat (avail in grey and black, love this pink coat);
jeans: FRAME (also here); necklace: Coach (old);
shoes: MICHAEL Michael Kors (similar here); sunglasses: Prada}

I've probably said it 100x on my blog - I love pink (see my recent post here!).  I've been eyeing a Free People v-neck sweater for a while (as shown in this post from the fall - a post about, you guessed it, pink!), but I'm really trying to cut back on my shopping (especially of sweaters since I bought quite a few over the holidays), at least for the next couple of months.  We're going away in March so I'm challenging myself to not shop until then (good luck to me!).  But I couldn't stop thinking of the sweater because I surprisingly don't own a light pink sweater and I kept thinking about how great it would look with this coat.  I love a monochrome look.  So when I came across this sweater at the GAP outlet (I was shopping for the kids!), I couldn't pass it up for the price (I think it was well under $20).  Sure enough I loved it paired with my pink coat, but I paired them with black to tone all the pink down.  Pink doesn't have to be over-the-top girly.  (Although I'm not one to turn down a frilly pink dress either.)

take me away

take me away

Dreaming of a vacation!  I almost feel guilty saying that since I already live in the South, but a few days of cold weather and I'm done. I want out of here. (Ok, it's definitely not that bad, but who doesn't love to go away?)  I'm always hearing about Tulum, so I had that in mind when I was putting this collage together.

Happy shopping!
