sweater weather and summer romper

Tularosa Harper Ruffle Romper (love this one for fall);

Cocoon sweater for this sweater weather but still wearing a summer romper kind of weather.
Happy Halloween! (For someone who loves dressing up, Halloween isn't really my thing.)

falling for . . . pink

As I mentioned yesterday, pink is my favourite colour but especially for fall and winter.  A pop of pink brightens my mood when I'm dressing for chilly weather.  I love pink paired with white, grey, black and red.  I'm normally drawn to bright pink, but this season I'm loving softer tones.  My favourite for fall is ballet pink and wine tones.  I also love a pink lip in the winter.  A bright pink is fun, but my absolute favourite is Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in 'Pretty Social'.

on Wednesdays we wear pink

{Paige Denim Edgemont Ultra Skinny (in coated black, similar here, other colours here);
sandals: MICHAEL Michael Kors (similar here); sunglasses: Prada}

I'm loving pinks and nudes for fall.  Pink is my favourite colour any season, but I especially love wearing it, along with bright colours, when the temp drops.  I lived in a pink coat last year.  It really helped change my mood when I was about to brave the cold.  Constantly wearing black and grey can be depressing.  Check back tomorrow, I'll be sharing my pink picks for fall!

white, sand and sunsets

{J Brand High Rise Maria Skinny in Blanc; top: Free People (old, similar here and here);
shoes: Matiko; hat: Brixtonsunglasses: Prada}

We spent Friday and Saturday night at the beach to watch the sunset.  It was so beautiful and the weather was perfect.  It's still been pretty hot during the day, but in the evenings it's finally cooled down enough to wear jeans.  I have to say I'm a little sick of wearing shorts (not so much the warm weather, but the shorts).  I've been on the hunt for white jeans for a while and I finally settled on these because of the high waist and, well, they called my name... literally.  They also have the perfect amount of stretch.  It's funny that I've had to wait until after Labour Day to buy white jeans, but I've never followed that "don't wear white after Labour Day rule" anyway.  I especially love wearing white head to toe.

tunic love

{Free People Swing Tunic (other colours, also here - get 25% off at Shopbop for 3 days only!);

This tunic is by far my favourite piece in my closet.  It's so versatile.  I love the colour (this one is from last year but there are other great colours).  For the most part, it works all year round (not quite in the South).  It's easy to throw on and comfy to wear - you look dressed up but you don't feel like you're dressed up in an uncomfortable way.  Normally this time of year I'd be wearing booties / over-the-knee boots with this tunic, but I was able to pair it with sandals for the first time.  I'm also petite so I'm lucky I get to wear it without pants, but it would also look great with a pair of skinny jeans, which I'll also do myself when it gets chillier here.  But I found myself saying "it's too hot out here" today, so I guess it won't be anytime soon.

the sweaterdress

{Free People Love Fool Swit Dress (also love this, this and this one); sneakers: Converse;
hat: Urban Outfitters; sunglasses: Prada}

I instantly fell in love with this sweaterdress because 1) I am obsessed with sweaterdresses.  In fact, I refuse to separate the words "sweater" and "dress" because it is in fact one item (spellcheck tells me I'm wrong), but nevertheless it is the best of both worlds - a piece you throw on and go and keeps you cozy warm; 2) black and white is always chic; and 3) I love that it can be worn casually but would also look great with some boots.  As happy as I was getting a cool enough day to wear this dress (the day before the historic rain began), I am happy to have sunshine again.

Thinking of those affected by the floods in SC.

jumper & denim

bracelets: H&M (old); sunglasses: Prada}

It's been raining here for about 5 days straight, but there was just enough of a break for me to go grocery shopping on the weekend.  I was struggling with what to wear.  It's October and raining so I can wear pants now, right?  Wrong.  I left the house and was sweating instantly (TMI, sorry).  So I switched into this romper, which is super comfortable.  Last time I paired it with a kimono (see here), so this time I threw on this denim vest because it does get cold in the grocery store.

fall-ish weather

{Free People Elsa Blouse (sold colours here);
hat: Urban Outfitters; necklace: Guess (old); sunglasses: Prada}

Happy October!  Wow, I can't believe it's already October.  The weather is confusing me.  I keep expecting it to start cooling down but yesterday it was 35 degrees!  It was honestly too hot to stay at the park with my daughter.  But then it rained and today, for the first day of October, we have been given some fall weather and I love it.  I really can take either.  I was envious of people being able to start wearing cozy sweaters (I've been dying to wear a sweaterdress I bought weeks ago), but yesterday's heat just made me appreciate how fortunate I'm going to be not having to deal with snowstorms anymore.  So I'm not wishing for cooler weather anymore.  I'm going to appreciate every warm day we get until it really cools down for good.  But I'm wondering if this is a sign to buy those sweaters I've been eyeing?
