pink bunny

{top: Free People (love this one for spring); blazer: Talula (old, other colours); necklace: Coach (gift);
bracelets: H&M (in-store); bag: Nia Anthony (also here, bought at Mendocino);
shoes: Pierre Hardy (black leather here); sunglasses: Prada}

I had a baby shower to go to and it was supposed to be 8 and sunny so I put together two outfits: 1) a floral dress with a long-sleeved blouse underneath, in case it was warm enough to go bare legged; and 2) the outfit above.  Either way, I wanted to dress girlie and in pink (even though the shower was for a baby boy).  It snowed Saturday night so there was no way I was going to wear option 1), but it was actually quite beautiful out.  The sun was shining all day.  I even threw a trench coat over this outfit to wear to the shower, but I had to take it off in the car because it was actually that warm.  This weather makes me so happy.  I've been waiting to wear this Free People lace top again, which I bought last summer, with this pink blazer I bought from Aritzia a while ago.  It just screams spring to me.  Of course, nothing screams spring more than a pink bunny bag!

jasmines

{dress: Pixie Market; jacket: French Connection (in-store, similar);
boots: MICHAEL Michael Kors (silver zipper); hat: Local Heroes (folded down); sunglasses: Prada}

I was looking through one of my fashion magazines a little while ago and came across a list of online shopping sites.  One stood out to me: Pixie Market.  One of my old bosses used to call me 'Pixie' so I had to check it out.  I fell in love with the pieces.  This dress is amazing.  It will be a recurring piece in the spring, but I could not wait to wear it so I paired it with tights, a (faux) leather bomber and booties.  Thankfully we're allowed to wear denim on Fridays at work.  (See below for picture without jacket - the sleeves are super cute!)  I'm so glad I ordered it and now I'm completely obsessed with Pixie Market.

textures

{sweater: Topshop; skirt: Wilfred Free (love this one, pretty pleated one here); jacket: Dolce Vita
lips: Smashbox 'Pretty Social'; boots: Marc by Marc Jacobs (other colour here);
bracelets: H&M (in-store); sunglasses: Prada}

I'm wearing baby blue again today, but this time it's all about textures: crochet, (faux and real) leather and tweed.  This Topshop sweater is so pretty.  I also picked up a new pretty lipstick for spring (link above).  If only spring would just get here already.  I have not had to wear a toque in my last two posts, but I did have to wear it today.  (But, as of tomorrow, it looks like we're finally moving to the above zero temperatures!)  So my outfits are still more in the winter category than spring, but this beautiful sweater will transition nicely with white jeans and a light scarf.  And hopefully we can stop wearing tights shortly.

baby blue

{sweater: GAP; skirt (old), coat (in-store): ZARA; Talula Kent Blazer;
Marc by Marc Jacobs Rue Loafers (also here, pink version); necklace: Guess; sunglasses: Prada}

I'm obsessing over pastels for spring so even though it's not quite spring weather yet (it's actually quite freezing today), I'm finding any way of fitting pastels into my wardrobe.  I think this GAP sweater is such a beautiful colour.  It goes with so many things.  It's lightweight so you can still wear it when it starts to get mild out.  I bought this ZARA snow leopard skirt a year or so ago, but love this Parker Fawn Siberian Snow Leopard Print Dress.  I think it would look great with some pastel pumps or a pastel cardigan.  Because this skirt is on the shorter side, I paired it with these adorable Marc by Marc Jacobs kitty loafers.  Also, because it's Monday.

baseball hat and rain boots

{top: Free People (similar); jeans: GAP; jacket: Anthropologie (similar);

It's still pretty chilly but I'm tired of wearing a toque/beanie.  This floral J.Crew hat is a perfect transition piece.  It also lifts my mood in this gloomy weather.  Although if the temperature drops one more degree, the toque will have to go back on.  I already own a pair of adorable Marc by Marc Jacobs rain boots, but I couldn't resist when I saw these baby blue Hunter boots.  I love the tall version, but I'm petite so they hit my knee, but I managed to track down the short version.  I used to hate when it rained, but once I invested in some rain boots (and a cute Coach umbrella), I now get excited because I get to wear them.  It's a nice change.  Especially when they come in such fun colours.  I know people wear them in the winter but, living in Canada, I'm never giving up my UGG boots.  #sorrynotsorry

spring

{blouse (worn as dress): Anthropologie; coat: ASOS; boots: MICHAEL Michael Kors (silver zipper);
hat: Local Heroes (flipped down to not show 'Bad Hair Day' writing); sunglasses: Prada}

It's the first day of spring!  It's still in the below 0 range, but we're getting closer.  I thought I would celebrate by wearing this cute Anthropologie "blouse", which I'm wearing as a dress because I'm petite and it's quite long for a blouse.  I love the mixture of stripes and florals, but I especially love the sleeves (see below).  I'll be living in this dress over the next few months.  Plus, it's a perfect piece to transition into spring with because you can add tights for now.

It's way too cold to take pictures of this dress without a coat on, but I managed to take one on our porch.  The sleeves also look great pushed up.

crepe dress

{Marc by Marc Jacobs Anya Colorblock Crepe Dress (Fall 2012, similar-ish); turtleneck: J.Crew;
MICHAEL Michael Kors Hamilton Mini Messenger Bag (bought in-store, larger versions here);
hat: Urban Outfitters; sunglasses: Prada}

A quick post of my outfit I posted on Instagram today.  I'm obsessed with anything Marc Jacobs.  He is by far my favourite designer.  I saw this dress and had to have it (even though I was on maternity leave and knew I probably wouldn't wear it until I returned to work in September, 2013).  Then I thought I should probably hem it because I'm petite.  But, as I said previously, I'm lazy when it comes to hemming my clothes.  So time passed and only recently when I started organizing my closet did I say, enough is enough and that I had to hem this dress so that I could wear it.  So I hung it on the outside of my closet.  More time passed and I still had not taken it anywhere to be hemmed.  So I decided, since spring is around the corner, I would just wear it because I would feel awful about not wearing this amazing dress.  (But I did get to look at it on a daily basis so there's that.)  Of course now that I'm wearing it today, I don't know if I'll ever hem this dress.

cool mint

{turtleneck, hat (other colours): J.Crew; skirt: Madewell; necklace: Coach (gift);
boots: Marc by Marc Jacobs (sold out, similar here); sunglasses: Prada}

I've been dying to start wearing spring clothes, but it's just not warming up.  At all.  It's hard not to want to buy spring clothes, but I'm trying to restrain myself because I just can't wear them yet and they'll probably go on sale by the time I can.  (I have picked up a few things.)  But I've also been having a hard time resisting all of the sales out there for winter clothes.  Of course there are some deals that are too hard to pass up!  I picked up this J.Crew "tissue turtleneck" because it's light as, well, a tissue so I can still wear it if it does start to warm up, but also because it is mint and one of my favourite spring trends are pastels.  So it's the best of both worlds.

(p.s. I unintentionally wore green today and only realized it was St. Patrick's Day when I saw a woman boarding the train with a sparkly green hat!)

sweet vs. street

{sweater: Talula; jeans: 7 For All Mankind (old, similar and love these); jacket: FCUK (in-store);
hat: J.Crew (other colours); necklace: Juicy Couture (old); sunglasses: Prada}

My daughter's middle name is Minnie, which combines my grandmother's name Maria and my husband's grandmother's name Winnie, and also because I love all things Disney, so when I saw that Aritzia was collaborating with Disney, I got excited.  This Minnie Mouse cropped sweater is super cute and cozy, but because I'm not quite ready to bare my belly (also because it's freezing out), I paired it with some high-waisted 7 jeans that I've had for years.  I posted a selfie when I first wore this sweater (see here), before I realized Aritzia is actually holding a contest to win a $1,000 gift card (see details here)!  The contest is called #sweetvsstreet and since I'm usually drawn to pink, ruffles, bows, cupcakes, etc... naturally I tend to dress on the sweeter side.  But because I also didn't want my look to be too sweet, I topped off my outfit with a faux leather bomber.

winter white & camel

boots: Marc by Marc Jacobs (similar herehere and tall version here); sunglasses: Prada}

Well, it's definitely still winter.  We had a glimpse of spring this week (13 degrees!), but it went away quickly.  With a snow storm.  (These pictures were taken before said snow storm.  I've actually been extremely ill all week.)  I've been wanting to do a 'winter white' look all winter.  I love white in the winter.  Unfortunately, my white jeans no longer fit me (I really should stop putting my jeans in the dryer... or stop eating so many bags of chips), so I decided it was time to buy a new pair since spring is just around the corner (although you would never know).  You can never go wrong with GAP 1969 Legging Jeans.  They fit great and the price is great.  I usually pair white with black in the winter because I love the contrast, but I came across an InStyle article on winter white and they suggested pairing it with navy, burgundy or camel.  I'm really glad I splurged on this cashmere Club Monaco hat.  It's a nice change from the black or bright colours I normally wear.

slouchy & cuffed

{pants: ZARA; sweater: GAP; bomber jacket: FCUK (in-store, love this one};
hat: Club Monaco (other colours); pumps: GUESS; sunglasses: Prada}

I'm not normally one to buy pants because I'm petite and it's a hassle having to hem them (plus, I'm a girlie girl and love skirts and dresses).  But for some reason (maybe it's because I'm getting really tired of the freezing cold weather lately), I'm really into pants.  I ordered a pair of yellow pants from zara.com recently and they fit perfectly, so I ordered these blue ones that I also had my eye on in the same size.  These fit looser and I probably could go down a size but then I decided I like the slouchy fit.  They are even a bit too long (even though they're "cropped"), which I thought might be a reason to return them, but I love them so much I decided they were worth hemming.  Then as I was looking online for some inspiration for my outfits this week, I noticed a lot of cuffed pants (whether self-cuffed or not, I'm not sure) so I decided to self-cuff these and voila! - a pair of unintentionally slouchy, cuffed pants that are my new favourite.  (Plus, these give me room to eat a cupcake, or two.)

kiss me

{sweatshirt: Topshop; jeans: GAP; hat: J.Crew (in-store, similar); initial necklace: Juicy Couture (old);
sunglasses: Prada; lips: Smashbox 'Fuchsia Flash'}

A quick post of the outfit I just posted on Instagram.  I did a little shopping at Topshop on Friday and couldn't resist this cute sweatshirt.  (Had a hard time resisting a lot of things!)  Sadly, I would rather no one kiss me since I have the nastiest coughs I think I have ever had.  I caught it, of course, from my kids.  I've also had a migraine on and off for days, but today I was able to get some fresh air and do a little bit of outdoor shopping.  The sun was shining, I had lunch with some friends (even though I could barely taste my meal) but, by the end of the day, my cough only got worse.  Normally when I get home, I usually change into my pjs right away, but I'm still wearing this sweatshirt because it is probably the softest sweatshirt I have ever owned.  I might even sleep in it too.

spring mint

{jeans: GAP (love these 7s); top: Mango (old); sweater: Marciano (old); bracelets: H&M;
boots: Marc by Marc Jacobs (similar); scarf: J.Crew (in-store); hat: Club Monaco; sunglasses: Prada}

Two more weeks until spring and we even get to 'spring forward' with our clocks this weekend, but it sure doesn't feel like spring.  At all.  But I've been reading the March issues of my favourite fashion magazines and all I keep seeing are spring clothes, which is making me a bit depressed.  Instyle had a spread on mint and they suggested pairing it with navy, which is not something I would think of (I'm all about mixing mint with white and other pastels).  So I decided to bring out my mint jeans and love the colour combination so much (I know, the top looks black but I swear it's navy!).  It's now starting to feel a little bit like spring.  (But not really.)

I'm so excited pastels are a huge trend for spring.  The colours are just so pretty!  If I'm not wearing it, I want to be carrying it.  I have a pastel pink bag covered and now I'm on the hunt for the perfect mint bag.  This Loeffler Randall Junior Work Tote is perfection.

leather details & pink pants

{tunic: J.Crew; pants: GAP (old, love these for spring); hat: Club Monaco;
necklace: Juicy Couture (old); ring: H&M; bracelet: BCBG (similar); sunglasses: Prada}

Just a quick post of my outfit today, which I posted on Instagram.  I was home the past couple of days because my son was sick so I decided to stay as far away as possible from him (put him in front of the TV, like a good parent) and officially spring clean my closet (even though I just organized my closet recently).  I came across so many things, including these pants, that I haven't worn this past winter (or last because I was on maternity leave) and, even though I heard we won't be seeing any sign of spring until late April (sigh), I decided I better put some outfits together before it's too late.  You never know, spring may decide to surprise us and come earlier (doubtful).  I told myself anything I would not end up wearing, I would donate.  I mean, how many tweed skirts does one person need?  (I also did a lot of online shopping yesterday so I should probably make room anyway.)

sweater dresses & booties

{sweater dress: GUESS (old, love this ASOS one and this Halston Heritage one);
boots: Marc by Marc Jacobs; bracelet: Coach; hat: Urban Outfitters; sunglasses: Prada}

So it's going to be another freezing week this week.  I was hoping last week was going to be the last of it, but sadly I was wrong.  I even swore I would not put on another chunky sweater again until next fall/winter and to start wearing spring clothes, but the weather won and here I am wearing a sweater dress.  I've had this Guess one for years and it's one of my favourites.  (I even wore it when I was pregnant!)  I love sweater dresses for the winter because they're so cozy and easy to throw on.  (I'm obsessed with this UNIF one.)  I am starting to shop little by little though for spring items and have been eyeing some amazing sandals, but instead of torturing myself since I won't be able to wear them for probably months, I bought these gorgeous booties to help me get through the next few (several?) weeks.  Take that, winter.
